Members Only events are held several times per year and are an advantage of membership in FAN. These events are planned so that members can experience a special program or venue that is not part of FAN’s grantee programs. Plans may also include lunch, making these gatherings a great way to meet new FAN friends and enjoy different events.
In January 2023 FAN members were treated to a presentation at the Steinway Gallery in Coral Gables about the composition of Hava Nagila by Abraham Zvi Idelsohn. Denise Wolpert, Idelsohn’s great-niece, offered tales of his personal life and Dr. Alan Mason demonstrated on the piano how Idelsohn’s compositions developed from his research into Jewish folk music.
In March FAN members toured Phase 1 of the 10-mile urban linear park, The Underline, led by Meg Daly, President and Founder of The Underline. Artist TYPOE met us at the sculpture garden and explained his fanciful large installations. A lively lunch followed.
On November 6th, 2023, we were treated to an Art Talk, ‘Navigating the Miami Art Fairs,” at the Mindy Solomon Gallery. FAN board member Laura Raiffe, an art consultant herself, interviewed gallerist Mindy Solomon about the fascinating world of appreciating and collecting art.
