To mark our 25 year milestone, FAN’s membership contributed funds to support a special, one-time awards program in addition to its annual grants program for performing and visual arts organizations. FAN dedicated this exceptional level of giving to a one-time awards process – the FAN AWARE Grants initiative.
PURPOSE OF THE AWARE GRANTS
FAN’s AWARE (Artistic Works Addressing and Rethinking Equity) Grants Initiative aims to advance exciting, probing performing and/or visual arts work that explores or reflects issues of equity. FAN intends to will award several grants up to $50,000 each through the FAN’s AWARE Grants Initiative, for programs in development that imagine or reimagine offerings within or across artistic disciplines. The proposed programs should not have been produced or presented previously to an audience in Miami-Dade County.
FAN’s AWARE Grants Initiative is specifically intended to help realize artistic work rooted in the societal issues facing us now and being conceived and created now.
FAN’s AWARE Grants Initiative is especially interested in receiving proposals for work in development that addresses issues or experiences of racial, gender or social equity and can have broad impact and community engagement.
FAN seeks to invest in purposeful artistic work that illuminates critical issues related to equity, and that can foster public examination, inspire and inform a broader cultural understanding and strengthen our community, and shape our understanding and experience of the world.
